Karl Katschthaler studied German language and literature and history in Innsbruck and in Regensburg. He wrote his doctoral thesis about Hubert Fichte’s ethnographic writing and his second book an the theatricality of vocal music of Alban Berg, Franz Schubert and György Kurtág. Currently he teaches literature and cultural history, intercultural communication and translation at the Department of German Literature at the University of Debrecen (Hungary). His main research interests are multi-, trans- and intermediality in literature, music and theatre and the history of modernity.
